Marital status: Widowed Children: 4
What's Up?: Retired but busy!
Interests?:
Gym rat, NPR listener. Skiing, snowshoeing, and photography. Love shopping, reading and writing mystery thrillers, playing with my eight grandchildren, and traveling.
Occupation? (or former occupation):
I graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in journalism but quickly entered the field of public relations and stayed there (in the medical non-profit realm) until I retired last year. It has been my privilege, both in my career and while caring for my husband, to work with people who think in terms of not how much money they are making, but how many people they are helping; who are doing their best to make life better for others.
Memories from High School:
Creative writing class with Miss Leenan changed my life. Lifelong friendship with Sue Owen. Going to State and Battle of the Bands.
Higher Ed? Military? First Job? Travels?:
Favorite trips: 10 days in Costa Rica, a week in London, and two cruises, one to Alaska and one to the Caribbean.
What's on your bucket list?:
Take a photo safari to Africa and finish a mystery thriller that has been lurking in my drawer for years.
Tell us about your family:
I met the man who would become my husband the very first day of college. He was late to Zoology lab and I was later, so we sat at the last lab bench and got to know each other much better than the topic at hand. Sadly, he passed away in 2010 from complications of ALS, but not before we celebrated 40 years of marriage, four children, and six grandchildren (now eight).

What's Up?:
One day I'm sitting on my balcony, at home in New Orleans, playing blues guitar, then the next, I'm running away to Jackson, with a laptop, a couple of my better guitars, two cats and a two day change of warm weather clothes. Holly, my wife, and I were just a few hours in front of a great storm. A couple of days later, in Jackson, after the rubble was cleared away, and phone and media started to slowly return, it became clear that driving to Denver may be my best option. So, here I am, back in sunny but frigid Denver. Colorado is lovely, but it's still the artistic/musical wasteland that I left behind several years ago. When I left here, Denver was all about giant SUVs and large multilevel beige tract homes. Now the SUVs are even larger and the tract homes more pervasive. Oh well, here I am, till I can go home again.
Interests?:
I studied art and graphic design at CSU, and later at Art Center, and now I am an artist, graphic artist, web designer/programmer, software developer and a musician. I used to teach at the college level, but now I paint and sell oil paintings that are generally large and brightly colored cubist or impressionist landscapes, figurative scenes, or still-life. I also play rock, jazz, bluegrass, blues and classical guitar and have played professionally. My only real hobby is perhaps my interest in Cornish Rex cats and Whippet dogs. I normally have several of this unique breed of cats & one whippet to hang out with. I have been married three times, and I have a son from the first. He lives in Seattle. No grand children yet, and I'm not holding my breath.
Occupation? (or former occupation):
I own a web design and graphic design company called www.artzdesign.com, and I have painted and played guitar professionally. I was a College instructor for several years. Check out my paintings here - www.richallenstudio.com
Memories from High School:
Most of my high school memories were either irrelevant, or vanquished from memory by college extra curricular. I do remember as a freshman, being stalked by some giant senior, who got his jollies by beating up little people. Wasn't high school wonderful!!! I also remember taking a lot of crap for my car. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that I was the only Wheat Ridge graduate of all time who ever drove a 1959 Simca Aronde (french car) to school.
More WRHS Memories ... :
The senior mentioned above, was also a football guy who had to quit in the middle of the season with a broken foot. Hmm, I'm not saying that I had anything to do with that, but if you are going to threaten the occupants of a car, don't stand in front of the car. That would be very dumb.

I sure wish I could go back to the good ole days when life was much simpler; I truly miss the years back when we were in high school.  I do have to say, I have been truly blessed in my music career.  I have met some of my heros, Faron Young, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Paycheck, and fortunate enough to call them "Friends".  I played the "Grand Ole Opry Tours" for 11 years with Del Reeves & Jeanne Shepard.  I was Lead Guitarist for Johnny Paycheck for 3 years.  I was the last to record a duet with my best friend, Faron Young, and performed with so many greats like Conway Twitty, Jerry Lee Lewis, Buck Owens (I was still in high school), Willie Nelson, and a bunch more.

There were some great times and some real low times, but I Love My Children, Grand Children, Great Grand Children, My Wife, My Family, and Friends.  I am loving life now, and all is good.

Hope you can help me find out where or what happened to Pete Maki.  Also, Brian Maki, Helmet B., Bobby Swartwood.

You can contact me anytime, day or night and give any of them my contact information.
